AI Search Optimization for Canadian Businesses
Your customers have stopped scrolling and started asking. They type questions into ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google’s AI Overviews, and they trust whatever those tools answer back. I’m Lev Gen, a Calgary SEO specialist, and I make sure the answer is your business.
This is called Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO. It’s the next version of SEO, built for a web where AI picks the winners. Most agencies in Calgary aren’t doing it yet. I’ve spent years studying how these models “think”, and I use that to get my clients named inside AI answers, not buried under them.
Why Work With Me
I don't just chase Google rankings. I optimize for the AI tools your customers already use every day, so you show up whichever way they search. Twenty years in SEO, and ahead of the curve on this one.

Search Is Changing. Fast.
For twenty years, SEO meant one thing: ranking on Google. That still matters. But something big has shifted. People now ask ChatGPT for a plumber, ask Gemini which dentist to trust, and read Google’s AI Overview instead of clicking any link at all.
When that happens, ten blue links don’t decide the winner. The AI does. It reads the web, picks a handful of sources it trusts, and hands your customer a single answer. If your business isn’t in that answer, you’re invisible, no matter how well you used to rank.
How I Get You Into AI Answers
AI tools don’t pick sources at random. They favour content that’s clear, well-structured, factual, and backed by trust signals they can read. I build your site so these models can understand it and quote it. That means clean structured data, content written to answer real questions, strong entity signals about who you are and where you operate, and the authority markers AI leans on. Much of this overlaps with good SEO, which is why doing both together works better than either alone.

AEO, GEO, LLMO: What the Letters Mean
The field is new enough that nobody’s settled on one name, so here’s the plain version. AEO, Answer Engine Optimization, is about getting your business into direct answers and featured snippets. GEO, Generative Engine Optimization, is about getting cited inside AI summaries like Google’s AI Overviews and Perplexity. LLMO covers showing up when someone asks ChatGPT or Claude directly. Different labels, one goal: when AI answers your customer’s question, your name is in the answer. I handle all of it, so you don’t need to care which acronym is which.
Where I Get You Seen
People don’t all use the same AI. Some live in ChatGPT. Some trust Google’s AI Overview at the top of every search. Others ask Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, or Claude. Each one picks its sources a little differently. I optimize your site so it can be found and cited across all of them, not just the one you happen to use yourself.
How We Know It's Working
AI search is harder to measure than a Google ranking, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. There’s no “position 3” inside a ChatGPT answer. So I track what actually matters: whether your brand gets mentioned when people ask AI about your category, whether the mention is accurate and positive, and how much traffic lands on your site from AI tools. You can see referrals from ChatGPT or Perplexity right in your analytics. We watch those numbers move.
This Doesn't Replace SEO. It Builds On It.
Here’s something the hype gets wrong. AI search isn’t a reason to abandon Google. The two are merging. AI tools pull heavily from the same web results Google ranks, so a site that’s strong in classic SEO already has a head start in AI answers. That’s why I don’t sell AEO as a separate thing you bolt on. I build one foundation that works for both, which is exactly why twenty years of SEO experience matters here and a brand-new “AI-only” agency can’t match it.
Questions About AI Search Optimization
What is AEO?
Answer Engine Optimization is the practice of getting your business featured in answers from AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google’s AI Overviews. Think of it as SEO for a web where AI, not a list of links, gives your customer the answer.
Is this different from regular SEO?
It overlaps, but it isn’t the same. Good SEO helps, and a lot of the foundation is shared. AI search adds new priorities: structured data, clear entity signals, and content written to be quoted rather than just ranked. I do both together.
Does my business really need this yet?
Depends how fast your industry moves. AI search is growing every month, and getting in early is easier than clawing your way in once every competitor has caught on. If your customers are the kind who already ask ChatGPT things, yes.
Can you optimize for both Google and AI at once?
That’s the point. I build one strategy that covers classic Google rankings and AI search together, so you show up whichever way your customer looks for you.
How much does AI search optimization cost?
It varies with your site and your market. For most local businesses I fold it into the SEO work rather than billing it as a separate premium service, because the foundation overlaps. You won’t see the $5,000-plus monthly retainers the big Toronto enterprise agencies quote.
Will this stop working when AI changes?
AI engines shift constantly, that’s real. Which is why this isn’t set-and-forget. I watch how the answers change and adjust. The fundamentals, clear content and real authority, hold up across updates.
